Bodybuilding Supplements – How much is too much?

Whenever I go into a GNC or some other Sports Nutrition Store I get a headache from being overwhelmed of the amount of supplements that all claim “big gains” and “improved performance.” From Creatine to L-Glutamine they are all claiming they can “work.” I bought a few supplements not to long ago but after awhile it basically makes me feel very “sick.” I mean I am trying to find out what really works out there and it seems like what really works will sooner or later get pulled off the shelf. After awhile buying supplements can put a big dent in your wallet. So what really works?

eating right and excerise works.. if your eating your fruits and veggies and taking a multi vitamin everyday you should be fine.. If your lifting weights just make sure you have protien. IMO supplements are there to break your wallet. spend that money on a good gym membership.

It is becoming more educated and informed today. Know, heart attacks, strokes and cancer are major killers. They also know it is possible to detect conditions early, thus potentially curable. Breast cancer would be a good example. Mammography can pick up this disease in this early stage that is potentially curable. There is a good chance that now, if it is detected early, the patient is more likely to die several independent grounds. Early detection of other conditions such as diabetes, allowing for treatment, thus preventing further complications of the disease.

In the old days people only went to the doctor when sick. Now start to the doctor, even if you feel well. They want to know whether they have some risk of disease, or if they are at an early stage of some diseases in which early treatment can lead to a cure. Hence the birth of the screening health surveys in the industry. In some countries, this is business. You can buy packets of a health screening, where studies are performed on every part of the of you – blood samples, urine samples, stool samples can all be taken, and the scope can be stuffed into virtually every hole. Everything can be seen today. Unfortunately, not all conditions can be detected early. And not all studies are equally good conditions to detect. A little test sold as part of the full state of health, may not necessarily exclude the condition, or reduce your chances of dying if picked up. In fact, The investigation may lead to further unnecessary tests, procedures, and a lot of anxiety.

So who should do a review of health?

People with family history of certain factors must be before they develop symptoms. such a long family history of heart attacks, certain cancers. Most those over 40 should consider getting checked at least once, and then may be 3 per year, if there are no problems detected.

Companies use from health screening to determine whether prospective employees are suitable for work. Others use to determine whether their employees are still located on the job. Some jobs can be dangerous for people with certain medical conditions (would you really want a truck driver to history of uncontrolled seizures?), and other jobs can be dangerous for the health worker (eg, machinery industry, which produce loud sounds will need to regularly screen their employees with hearing impairments).

And what if not the people who are worried and want to do the test so sure?

There are no rigid rules. In some countries pay the money, you get the test. No problem right? Well, no Some things worth noting before deciding to do the test.

Is the test safe? Does not hurt me?
Colonoscopy (scope is inserted its back to check the colon) is a small risk of perforation or bleeding. The physician must determine the risks versus the benefits of research.
CT coronary angiography (heart scan of the arteries, whether they are blocked) is low risk when done on patients with certain medical conditions such as kidney disease or asthma.

Is the test easy to do?
Testing of high blood cholesterol and sugar high, it is not easy. Yes, cancer, Pap Smear cervix.

It is a thorough examination?
It is not worth doing the test if the results do not give a good answer. eg. blood test for colorectal cancer, cancer marker cancer may go into other diseases, or can not be raised in case of early cancer. So "normal" result does not mean anything. Or not "raised" result.

Pap smears, mammography, blood pressure tests, blood sugar and cholesterol in the blood are sufficiently accurate.

Whether the test make a difference?
Mammography to detect breast cancer early enough for treatment. Pap smears detect cervical cancer in the stage of cancer. Cure rates are high. Thus, the test is worth doing.

What is the test trying to find?
Some people just want to have their entire body scanned in the hope to detect some small tumors. It does not work that way. Completely healthy people may have variations in their bodies or cysts mild and lichens. Not all look the same inside. This can lead to unnecessary further tests and even operations, not to mention the terrible stress you undergo while awaiting the results.

So, before you go to a health screening, ask your doctor about testing you're going to do. It is good to have a greater knowledge of his own body. And it helps if you can still take steps to prevent disease. But you have to understand what we do.
